Inspired by the timeless elegance of classical architecture, Avenue d'Amour has been thoughtfully redesigned to sit effortlessly within Britain's most beautiful homes - from stately Georgian properties to idyllic country cottages. With carefully considered proportions and a choice of sizes, the collection of Oatmeal painted furniture pairs enduring design with everyday liveability, creating furniture made not only for today's home, but for the generations who will enjoy it long after us.

Avenue d’Amour - French Style Bedroom Furniture

Created exclusively for French Bedroom in collaboration with Country Homes & Interiors, Avenue d’Amour marks 20 years of designing antiques of the future. Inspired by classical architecture and the character of British country interiors, the collection reimagines traditional French bedroom furniture for homes today.

Fluting, inset panels, shaped pelmets, tapered legs, and sculptural forms give the furniture its distinctive architectural character, while the soft oatmeal finish falls somewhere between chalk, parchment, and island sand. Warm and neutral without feeling plain, the colour responds naturally to its surroundings – appearing warmer in south-facing rooms and softer and more muted in north-facing light.

Designed to sit comfortably in everything from stately Georgian properties and country cottages to modern homes, Avenue d’Amour brings together French influences, British heritage, and practical furniture designed for everyday living.

What Furniture Is Included in the Avenue d’Amour Collection?

At the heart of the collection are two French bed designs. The Avenue d’Amour French Bed has a painted wooden headboard, fluted footboard, and tapered legs, allowing the oatmeal finish and architectural shapes to take centre stage.

For a softer interpretation, the Avenue d’Amour Upholstered French Bed combines its solid wooden frame with oatmeal linen-blend upholstery. Its distinctive headboard was inspired by the doorway architrave of a stately home, while rounded upper corners and circular motifs nod to Victorian design.

Both beds can be paired with the Avenue d’Amour Petite or Grande Bedside Tables. Choose the Petite Bedside Table when space is limited, or the Grande Bedside Table for additional surface space and storage. The Grande design features tapered columns, a wide fluted drawer, a lower shelf, and raised edges around the tabletop.

For larger bedroom storage, the collection also includes an Oatmeal Chest of Drawers and 2-Door French Armoire. A coordinating Console Dressing Table, Wall Mirror, and Bedroom Chair can be combined to create a dedicated dressing area.

You can choose several coordinating pieces for a complete bedroom or introduce just one design alongside furniture you already own.

What Style Is Avenue d’Amour Furniture?

Its fluting, symmetry, tapered forms, and restrained ornament reference classical French and Gustavian furniture, while the architectural headboards and shaped mouldings take cues from British period homes. The upholstered French bed introduces a further Victorian influence through its rounded forms and circular motifs.

The result is French-inspired furniture that retains a sense of history without making a bedroom feel overly formal or traditional.

This makes Avenue d’Amour particularly suited to Georgian homes, country cottages, farmhouses, and period properties, while its quieter oatmeal finish allows the same pieces to work within more contemporary interiors.

How Do You Style Oatmeal Bedroom Furniture?

The neutral oatmeal finish gives you plenty of freedom to change the colours and textiles around your furniture over time.

For a calm bedroom, pair Avenue d’Amour with warm whites, natural linen, stone, and layers of oatmeal. If you prefer more colour, muted pink, sage green, washed blue, terracotta, and botanical prints all sit comfortably alongside its warmer undertones.

For a country-house look, layer floral quilts, embroidered cushions, woven rugs, and vintage-inspired accessories around the furniture. Alternatively, keep the bed linen and walls quieter and allow the shape, fluting, panelling, and furniture proportions to provide the interest.

Because the larger furniture remains neutral, changing bedding, cushions, curtains, and wall colours can transform the room without requiring you to replace your investment pieces.

Is Avenue d’Amour Cream Bedroom Furniture?

Avenue d’Amour can sit comfortably within the cream bedroom furniture category, but its finish has greater warmth and depth than a traditional bright cream or white.

We describe the colour as oatmeal, a soft neutral positioned between chalk, parchment, and island sand. Its warmer undertones make it particularly easy to combine with natural materials, painted walls, patterned textiles, and existing wooden furniture.

As natural light changes throughout the day, so will the way the furniture appears. If you are deciding whether the colour will work alongside your existing flooring, paint, or wallpaper, we recommend requesting an Avenue d’Amour wood sample and viewing it in your own room.

How Do I Choose the Right Size Bedside Table?

The main difference between the Avenue d’Amour Petite and Grande Bedside Tables is their scale and the amount of storage they provide.

The Petite Bedside Table is designed for smaller bedrooms or tighter spaces beside the bed, providing practical storage without taking up unnecessary floor space.

The Grande Bedside Table has broader proportions, making it a natural choice for larger bedrooms, king, super king, and emperor beds, or anyone who would like additional room for a bedside lamp, books, and everyday essentials.

Both repeat the shapes and oatmeal finish found across the wider Avenue d’Amour collection, so they can be paired with either of the collection's French beds.

Does French Bedroom Furniture Have to Match?

Not at all. Although Avenue d’Amour has been designed as a coordinating French bedroom furniture collection, every piece can also be introduced individually.

If you already have a bed you love, add an Avenue d’Amour bedside table, chest of drawers, or armoire. An empty wall can become a dressing area with the Console Table, Wall Mirror, and Bedroom Chair, while a single storage piece can introduce the oatmeal finish without changing the rest of your bedroom.

If you are furnishing a room from scratch, combining several Avenue d’Amour pieces will naturally repeat its fluting, inset panels, tapered shapes, and oatmeal colour throughout the space.

Can the Avenue d’Amour Console Table Be Used as a Dressing Table?

Yes. The Avenue d’Amour Console Table can be used as a bedroom dressing table, particularly where the proportions of a larger traditional dressing table would be impractical.

Pair it with the Avenue d’Amour Wall Mirror and Bedroom Chair to create a dedicated dressing area. Its slimmer profile also makes it useful within an alcove or against an otherwise unused bedroom wall.
