With the arrival of autumn, I am revelling in the refined autumnal styling across the home décor sphere. Warm and earthy tones, tactile fabrics, and seasonal foliage work harmoniously to create a homely and welcoming ambience. Second only to Christmas, this is one of the best times of year for adding seasonal touches to one’s home.
Between spontaneous September showers and with the sun setting earlier, my family and I have been making the most of the sunny spells at the weekends, venturing out without the need to bundle up in hats and scarves just yet. Embarking on countryside bike rides, rural dog walks and most importantly, enjoying the simplicity of being together and outdoors; these moments can seem few and far between amid working life.
At French Bedroom HQ, we have been preparing for the autumn winter season by planning photoshoots for our new furniture pieces which the team are tremendously excited to show you. A lot of work goes into launching new collections; from initial inspirations and drawings it can take up to 18 months for pieces to enter a customers home.
Behind the scenes, we painted, wallpapered, laid new flooring, and hung curtains, mirrors and picture frames to ensure a deserving backdrop to our new in collection: The Gustavian Dark Collection.
This time last year, we launched our beloved Gustavian Collection which quickly flourished to bestseller status. Its new in dark, rich counterpart provides an elevated, decadent alternative to an already striking collection. Combining deep stained solid ash wood with intricate hardware and mushroom-toned upholstery, this collection tunes into the fact that dark wood truly is back en vogue.
Paying homage to the late eighteenth-century Swedish twist on French neoclassism, the collection combines the key elements of Gustavian style furniture, combining distinctive shapes, fluted legs and beaded detailing. Featuring six key pieces, the Gustavian Dark Collection offers new classics for the discerning eye, with more items planned for launch soon.
This could be one of my favourite shoot décor schemes to date, especially with the final styling of the Gustavian Dark Collection and a selection of sumptuous soft furnishings which have just arrived to our new in page.
In the last volume of Romantic Reveries, I reflected on time spent with my children over the summer holidays. In what seems like the blink of an eye, we are already planning their Halloween outfits! They say ‘time flies when you’re having fun’, time also flies when you have two wonderful, happy children growing before your eyes – and regularly outgrowing the length of their school trousers!
However you choose to spend your autumn, Halloween or October half-term, I do hope you are able to take some time to slow down, appreciate the changing colours outdoors and make memories with those most important to you.
Sunday Discoveries
Whether you are dressing for an occasion, for work or seeking a pair of strikingly stylish pyjamas, here are some pieces we think you will adore just as much as we do.
Eliza Purple Pebble Print Silk Twill Shirt, Lisou
I adore statement prints and this purple geometric blouse is no exception. Made from 100% silk, it feels just as luxurious as it looks.
Red Lurex Pussy-Bow Top, Chinti & Parker
Elegant and versatile, this top boasts equal measures of drama and femininity, pairing as effortlessly with jeans and trainers, as it would a satin skirt and heels.
Navy Peacock Feather Pyjamas, Their Nibs
These super soft cotton pyjamas are printed with elegant peacock feathers, originally hand painted by Their Nibs’ in-house designer, Sia. Who said pyjamas can’t fashionable?
In Bed With...
As a female founded business, we admire and champion other women who have taken a leap of faith to create and nurture a brand they are truly passionate about.
We launched our In Bed With series on YouTube as a medium to showcase the stories of female founders, inspire business women at the beginning of their journey and to connect French Bedroom with other likeminded brands.
Our first guest was Claire Burrows. Founder of London based footwear company Air & Grace, one of Claire’s primary goals was to create gorgeous shoes without compromising on comfort. We reflected on our journeys, the standout moments we have experienced as founders and shared the intricacies of creating a bed and a pair of trainers. It truly was an insightful afternoon and I am so looking forward to continuing the In Bed With series over the coming months. We would love to hear your feedback!
