Neutrals are those well-behaved, co-operative, unobtrusive colours - white, grey, black and beige - they play nicely with their bolder counterparts, while bringing a calming influence to even the raciest of palettes. But bringing its rosy warmth to our interiors for yet another year, with no signs of waning, is pink; a formidable contender for the mantle of 'neutral'. While this may seem like a bold statement, pink's transcendence from on-trend colour du jour to neutral has been a gradual. Originally embraced by Scandinavian designers in blush tones with hints of Elastoplast, paired with greys, natural woods and punchier corals and chartreuse; being adopted by Millennials as their very own colour - featuring as high-end brands' signature colour, such as Acne and Lixir Skincare - finally being given the trendsetters seal of approval when it was announced as one of Pantone's colours of the year in 2016.
We've been musing about the wonders of pink for a few years now, you only need to see our Pink Trend Update blog from 2017 and our Coming Up Roses | Blush Pink for your Home blog from 2016, to explore our love of the softer of the neutrals with on-goingly relevant styling tips and ideas on how to get the look. We've got pink covered with our blush pink velvet bedspreads, soft pink linen cushions, powder pink 100% linen bedding and even a pink velvet luxury French bed.
