Darjeeling Large Bedside Table

Made exclusively for French Bedroom.

Carved from mango wood and hand-finished in Farrow & Ball James White paint, the artisanal Darjeeling Large Bedside Table has classic bun feet, four drawers and painted rope-style handles.

We chose mango wood for this bedside table for both its beautifully rich warm tones as well as its kindness to the planet. Once the mango fruit is used, the standard practice is that the trees are burnt down to clear space for replanting. However, by using the wood, the farmers gain extra income, and their environment is not polluted or heated by smoke from the fires.

Additional advantages to mango wood are its density and durability. The three drawers in this French Chest of Drawers are on wood runners. The top drawer is slender and shallow, intended for lingerie and smalls (or keys and dog leads, depending on its intended use) and sits atop a plinth-style rail, providing visual separation from the two deeper drawers below.

We love the strong visual contrast between the warm-toned wooden interior and the pure white painted exterior and are styling this large bedside table with patterned upholstered beds.

A matching chest of drawers is also available.

Please note that due to the delicate nature of the paintwork, care must be taken when handling this chest as jewellery and other hard items will scratch the paintwork, although we think signs of use and love will add to the charm of this piece.
