Summer has finally arrived for us in South East England, bringing extended evenings, garden family fun, and a sense of contentment. With a new season, comes an abundance of new opportunities, including exciting industry events (more on that later!) and, most importantly, new product launches.
The French Bedroom product team have been busy comparing fabric samples, deciding on colour palettes and testing durability of materials for the furniture and accessories we are currently designing. The all-female team work tirelessly to find the perfect balance between true beauty and durability, to ensure our timeless designs do really stand the test of time! We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on behind the scenes – we know you’re going to love it! Here is a sneak peek of a bed we're launching very soon, which you may have spotted already across our website and socials.
To coincide with these product launches, we‘ve been having fun planning our upcoming photoshoots. From wallpaper to flowers, every element is carefully considered, and every member of our team gives input to make the photoshoot an exciting and collaborative project. Before shoots, I wonder through vintage and antique fairs to source unique props and accessories. Amongst the one-eyed dolls and slightly dishevelled teddy bears, the wonderfully eccentric sellers offer hidden gems, many of which make it onto my moodboard and eventually into the shoot day styling. (Can you guess which prop made it into the boot of my car? Answer below!)
Outside of work, I have been making memories with my family. As a business owner, life is busy and the full days fly by. Setting aside time to spend time together is so important to me. Whether this is taking my daughter to Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' or enjoying a fun day out in Brighton with my son, these moments are cherished and serve as a reminder as to why I work so hard.
Back in the office, we we recently shortlisted for the Best eCommerce Customer Service' at the 2024 eCommerce Awards! This means a great deal to us because the Customer Experience team, complemented by the wider FB team, are dedicated to making each customer's purchasing journey enjoyable and efficient, from providing wood samples to styling advice and creating a community of French Bedroom customers. We excitedly await the awards ceremony in September!
Remaining with the theme of community, I am proud to have been on a panel of inspirational women from other industries at the ContentSquare #CXCircleLondon event, which was attended by nearly 2000 people both in person and online. Having a forum to chat openly about the pros and cons of the journies we have been on, the advice we can share, and the next steps for each of our roles was both humbling and rewarding. The FB team were cheering me on from the office with their own viewing party - truly representative of my supportive team.
We look forward to embracing the rest of summer - however long that lasts! Trips abroad, staycations, festivals and time with loved ones are all on the cards for the next few months and I can’t wait.
Answer: I chose the stone jug. Those teddy bears were marvels, but more over-loved than pre-loved!
Sunday Discoveries
As we step into summer and head towards brighter days, the Modern Femininity trend
begins to dominate the interiors sphere but unlike fleeting trends, this one is here to stay.
Gone are the days of overstimulating bright pinks and purples, making way for intricate florals
and muted tonal palettes, with subtle pops of colour to complement existing tones.
With an extensive collection of furniture and accessories designed by women, for women,
this aesthetic is perfectly representative of the signature French Bedroom style.
Curved Silhouettes
Emulate the female form with curved headboards and footboards.
Pretty Pastels
Use subtle tones of pinks, blues and greens to add colour without adding too much stimulation.
Tactile Fabrics
Combine different textures to add layers and depth. Think faux fur, linen and silk. The perfect mixture of fabrics!
