Deciding on a bed is a carefully considered process. Colour, size and quality are all important areas to consider. The most important decision, and often the most difficult, is which size to go for.
If you have made it as far as this blog, you have most likely already formed an idea of which style of bed you would like, so now it is time to choose a size.
A double bed is often a great size for a lone sleeper who likes to move around in the night without feeling restricted. When an extra sleeper is added into the mix, the practicality of a king size bed becomes even more appealing. A duo can sleep side by side while still having ample room to preserve personal space.
Larger beds are also great for those lazy weekend mornings when the kids (and probably the dog too!) want to pile into bed together.
Not only is a king size bed 15cm wider than a double at 150cm, but it is also 10cm longer at 200cm, making it perfect for taller sleepers who often find their feet dangling off the end of a double bed!
Consider the space you have in the bedroom. Yes, a king size bed may be your preference, but if the extra centimetres will sacrifice valuable floor space, you may wish to reconsider. While a king size bed will dominate the room more than a double, the quality of sleep you could benefit from may outweigh any potential cons.
When choosing the accompanying furniture for a wooden king size bed, make sure to consider the scale of the bed compared to smaller items such as bedside tables and lamps. A larger piece of furniture may be better suited to larger additional furniture and accessories, such as a small chest of drawers in place of bedside tables or oversized cushions such as the Olivia White Ruffled Linen Cushion, to avoid the size of the bed overwhelming the space in the room.
Aside from bedroom floor space, it is also useful to consider access points, stairwell dimensions and any other potential obstacles to our couriers delivering your dream king size bed. The last thing we want is to face any issues on delivery day when you’ll be so excited for your first night in your new bed! Also take into account the height of any headboards, especially if you have low or slanted walls and ceilings. As for the aforementioned taller sleepers, it may be best for them to have a bed with no footboard to remove any restrictions to them stretching out for a comfortable sleep.
