It seems we’ve blinked and we’re already almost halfway through 2022, and Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee is fast approaching. We can’t believe the longest reigning British monarch is about to celebrate seventy successful years on the throne!

Her reign is a constant in British society, and as the world changes and adapts with the times, her majesty consistently remains an important pillar to British life. Whilst the months of May and June will be full of articles documenting the success of Queen Elizabeth and her time on the throne, we wanted to dive back through her fashion archives to assist us in creating the perfect look for the upcoming Jubilee celebrations.

Choose Elegant White Luxury Bedding Sets

The mid 1940s was where the Queen began to debut her delightful style. We’re obsessed with some of her early looks, such as her splendid silk gowns, but we’ve always had a soft spot for the lace train on the infamous gown she wore when she wed Prince Philip.

The train itself featured a captivating pattern inspired by a Renaissance painting named “Primavera” by Botticelli. This was symbolic of rebirth for England following the second World War – not only was it fashionable, but also heart-warming in meaning.

Even through the 1950s, and especially at the Coronation in 1953, the Queen spent her time in luxe-fabrics, lightly coloured silks, delicate patterns, and a lot of white.

Taking inspiration from the elegant whites and delicate patterns the queen boasted in her early debuts, we’ve chosen to dress our guest room to impress for the extra long bank holiday weekend.

Using luxury bedding sets such as The Absolute 1000 Collection White Cotton Bed Linen, you can create simple, understated elegance that both looks and feels royal. Accessorise this timeless set with the Colette Bouquet White Cotton Quilted Bedspread to add refined texture and femininity – the pattern is reminiscent of the Queen’s famous 15-foot train at her 1947 wedding.

Style Designer Bedding in Royal Blues

Blues have frequently featured in the Queen’s wardrobe throughout her reign, and we’re sure they’ll continue to feature in her outfits post-jubilee. Delightful shades of cornflower, turquoise, and forget-me-not blues are frequent choices – blue truly is Elizabeth II’s colour!

There have been a few notable events where Queen Elizabeth boasted a memorable shade of blue. Queen Elizabeth wore a beautiful blue gown when meeting The Kennedys. Her majesty and Jackie Kennedy famously dressed in different shades of blue at this union, and rumour stated Jackie was not best pleased with the Queen’s ‘dated’ attire.

We, for one, adored the enchanting ball gown that adorned the queen that day. The queen also made a statement at Charles’ first royal wedding, where she wore a striking turquoise gown with matching hat.

We love the idea of incorporating these blues into our home with the use of luxury bedding. The Magnolia Bed Linen Set by Wedgwood not only feels luxurious, but it is the perfect shade of blue for the springtime.

This designer bedding is adorned with the most delicate patterned magnolias, which create a serene, refined look in the bedroom, comparable to the elegance of the Kennedy dress.

Alternatively, embody the bright gown worn at the royal wedding with summery throws such as the Botanical Chinoiserie Duck Egg Kantha Throw or the Birds and Blossom Kantha Throw – both are a perfect weight for the warmer months, and bring a delightful pop of fun colour into the home.

Add Pops of Colour with Luxury Bedding

Queen Elizabeth has brought smiles to thousands of faces with her brightly coloured coordinating outfits. From dresses to suits, the queen has never failed to turn heads with her perfectly paired attire. She’s always been one for using colour, however, the dresses and skirts she has been boasting in more recent times appears to be how the Queen has made her style statement in later life.

The Queen seems to have every colour under the sun in her wardrobe, from buttery yellow, to poppy red, to poolside blue. In the same way we like to use our decadent Peachskin bedspreads, we like to think the queen uses colour to express her moods.

Whilst our Peachskin bedspreads don’t yet come in every colour imaginable, we have carefully chosen seven colours to fit all interiors styles, so you truly can match your bedspread with the colour that best expresses your mood that day.

We cannot wait to see what the Queen wears for her Platinum Jubilee. Her previous looks are so tastefully put together, we just know it’s going to be an absolute delight (plus, if you can’t tell, we love to mirror her style in our homes!)
