Morning Coffee Musings

This volume marks number four of our posts for your slow Sunday mornings in bed! I’ve enjoyed writing these musings to you, so I do hope you enjoy reading them too. It’s almost the end of August already, with the summer holidays winding down for the last few weeks. My children will be soon back at school, with my eldest now starting high school! Doesn’t time fly?

The first of our Love Story beds are making their way into customer’s homes, and I can’t wait to see how you style them – make sure you tag us on Instagram. We’re expanding the collection, with new colourways, ottomans and benches on the way. We’re also gearing up for Christmas, and with our accessories, all arrived we’re ready to do a shoot. Think (faux) fur, tassels and velvet – perfect for transforming your home with timeless French style at the core. PS. If you want a new bed before Christmas, start thinking about ordering soon (no exaggeration!).

Back to the here and now! In this volume we’re talking about how to make the most of the August Bank Holiday next weekend, with an array of things to do, what to wear and what to eat.

Describe your perfect Sunday…

A perfect Sunday has remained somewhat the same throughout my life, roast dinners, and cosiness.

In the morning, my husband would be prepping for a roast dinner, rubbing the choice of meat with fresh herbs and leaving it to rest (I’d say me but he’s a much better cook and enjoys the whole process).

I’d have probably already been to a boot fair or antiques market searching for treasures and would have hopefully returned with a handful of items.

The music is on, maybe a bit of Motown, the log fire is lit, and the red wine is being poured.  Family or friends are arriving, and everyone enjoys the cosiness and the aromas of the dinner once they come in. Lots of laughter and delightful food.

Highlight of the summer holidays with the kids?

I like the calmer days where there’s a slower pace, so a lazy morning without any rushing around trying to get to a destination on time is a perfect day.  Usually involving the beach as we aren’t too far away and we often pop down late afternoon, early evening for fish and chips on the beach watching the sunset.

Calmest room in your home?

Without question, that it is the master bedroom which we fully completed just recently by repainting the walls and woodwork and finished the ensuite.  Neutral tones, dim lighting and lots of different natural textures have been added including limewash paint, reclaimed white washed cladding, a seagrass lampshade and linen bedsheets.  It’s my favourite room to escape to for some calm.

Most looking forward to over bank holiday?

Spending time with my husband.  His free time is usually spent doing DIY on the cottage but to have my two daughters off school and at home too, we’ll be making the most of the time together… I wonder if we’ll have some sun?

What’s your favourite FBC product?

Definitely without question the ‘wooden beads artisan chandelier’.  We have one hanging in our hallway and another will be hanging in our kitchen as the final piece to finish it off.  I love that it is a statement piece without being extravagant and will subtly blend into the decor.

Blog Post Omnibus

We’ve had a busy one over on the blog over the last four weeks. With warmer weather comes sleepless nights, so we discussed 10 ways to cool down and get some well earned shut eye. We posted a very helpful guide on ensuring that you can fit your new French bed actually through the door and up the stairs!

If breakfast inspiration is what you’re after, then look to the country that is ever our muse, France. Whether it’s a baguette with jam you fancy, or you’d like to try something new like radish (yes, radish!) on toast, we’ve got options for you.

You know we love beds, and we love Pinterest, so we thought we’d figure out which type of beds are the most popular on Pinterest! Find out where in the list French Beds come in our blog post.
