Designed in Sussex by French Bedroom’s design team, the Gustavian White collection of linear French furniture is made from solid wood, painted in French white; a reimagined style of our very first collection of French furniture sold when we launched back in 2006.
The Gustavian collection pays tribute to the kinship that exists between French and Swedish furniture designs. Determined to turn Stockholm into 'the Paris of the North', King Gustav III married French and Swedish furniture design to create timeless furniture that exudes simplistic elegance.
Inherently Gustavian in style, the Gustavian Chair is the perfect piece to display independently or paired with the Gustavian Dressing Table. Slim, long legs have been hand-carved from ash wood, with simple detailing and acorn finials that add an element of visual intrigue. In true Gustavian style, symmetrical carvings have been added to the body of the chair, with pale ivory linen upholstery, finished with piped edging. Elements of crest-back-styling complete the chair, combining style with functionality and comfort.
The rich tapestry of French furniture design is woven into the fabric of each piece, blended with a contemporary linear elements for a fresh take on French furniture style. The collection reflects how the rooms in our homes have evolved to accommodate how we live today; the flux and flow of our homes from living to working, resting to entertaining means the items of furniture need to offer dual purpose in terms of use, comfort and storage requirements.
